J.R. Martinez, 2011 winner of Dancing With the Stars is set to become a Father in the Spring of 2012!

J.R. Martinez and his girlfriend Diana Gonzalez-Jones are expecting their first child next spring. J. R. met Diane when he landed the role in All My Children in 2008. “We were friends, you know, it was a workplace, so you don’t want to cross the line. She was working as an assistant. Martinez continues, “I was respectful of that and for about two years we were great friends.” And, eventually, it became serious.

Martinez knew about the pregnancy while doing “Dancing with the Stars,” and was able to keep the secret.

“I kept it under wraps and focused on my dancing,” he said. Even when I was dancing, I still made time to go to her doctor appointments with her,” he said. “I would tell Karina, ‘Hey I need to push rehearsal back an hour…’ I was so focused mentally, emotionally, on Dancing with the Stars, and then I was also processing, ‘Whoa, I’m going to be a dad!” That’s a lot of information to process at one time!”

They are going to have a girl and he is already planning out some things for her life.

“I’m thinking I’m going to have my girl play sports. I’m going to have her be active, maybe [she'll] go to Karina Smirnoff dance studios for lessons one day!”

Diana has made it perfectly clear that she does not want to march down the aisle with a big belly, but Martinez said that marriage is definitely in their future. As for this special gift he said,“We found out just last week it’s a girl and we are over the moon,” Martinez, 28, says. “Diana has a little baby bump now and it’s the cutest thing ever. With the holidays coming up, this is the biggest and best gift we could get.”
