ABC woopsy? According to the ratings Ben may have not been the best choice as the Bachelor!

Bens The Bachelor Ratings are down and down big! What happened? Well in my view Ben Flajnik, pronounced Flannic, just never had a big connection with fans on the Bachelorette last season and really hasn’t been pitched by the network as Bachelors of past seasons have.

Sure, we like him and there will be lots of viewers to tune in all season, but not the level of recent seasons!

Frankly the last decent Bachelor choice was prolly Jason Mesnick. Depsite his last minute shananigans with Melissa Rycroft, Jason still seems very genuine and was embraced by the fans. Jake Pavelka was great for ratings but he was not well liked by the fans and ABC enjoyed a bounce from the season before. This ploy only works for so long and then the Bachelor franchise would be wise to return to someone who has real onscreen charm and seems overtly sincerere. Ben, bless his heart, just does not seem to have that same onscreen quality! Sure, it will be a fun season for the base of fans and the are many, but ABC would be wise to not sit on there laurels and try to take this franchise back to it’s roots!

The over the top quirkiness is an ingredient to this recipe, but not the main ingredient. Based on the spoilers about this season it appears Lindzi Cox will be the one with the strongest fan connection, but if it appears that she is inveitable as the next Bachelorette, ABC would be wise to take a pass and go with the unexpected!

Viewers want to be suprised and then romanced when they watch the bachelor and they pay with viewership. Shock and silly antics won’t only go so far!

I think ABC can pull out a succesful season with Ben but the editors may want to go back to the tapes and build more of a connection with Ben if that’s possible and run some commercials that focus back on his early connection with Ashley Hebert. Ashley fans are the best route to making the best of Bens season as far as getting an early ratings boost.

When it comes to the Bachelor, viewers clearly want to see a more genuine desire to find someone and not just 12 episodes of scandalous activities like skinny dipping and girl fights; after all viewers that like that have many, many options such as Bad Girls Club or Jersey Shore!

P.S. I might add Hawaii Five-O seems to continue the march to a mainstream TV Hit! It’s Monday ratings were way up!
