….and it was another night with drama and tears. The women were ecstatic to be headed to San Francisco. When they arrived, there were staying at the Fairmont Hotel and were given the entire top floor of the old tower. It was a breathtaking view.
The episode began with Ben visiting with his sister. She was happy to see him and asked him if there was anyone she or his mom would like. He stated the following:
Lindzi – He told her when she came in on a horse and was quite impressed with her.
Courtney: He stated he thinks she is down to earth and that she would hit it off with her.
Jennifer: Ben confirmed that she is the best kisser.
Julia, his sister told him she is really excited for him to be in love and that he will have some interesting stories to tell in the future. Boy, if she only knew!
Kacie B: Was excited to be in San Francisco, as she wants to see where he lives and she might live.
Chris gives the ladies the first date card and it goes to Emily. Courtney had some choice remarks to make about her last night:
She feels she is boring and, “She has personality problems and a social disorder.” And she hopes she does not get a rose at the end of the date.
The date card says: “Love Lifts Us Up.” She seems a bit shocked that he has picked her and wonders what the “lifting up,” refers to. She even wonders if she will pee in her pants. LOL Wait until she finds out!!!!
Ben lets us know they will climbing the Bay Bridge and has a fear of heights. He believes relationships need trust and feels this adventure will give them an opportunity to test it. The top of the bridge is 535 feet up!
It turns out Emily Obrien also fears heights and has a time when she panics. She stops, but Ben gives her a lovely kiss and reassures her. They both express their fears and agree to both scream at the count of 3. Cute! She makes it to the top!!!!! And, so does he.
Meanwhile, Brittney, has been looking through the telescope and actually sees them on the bridge. She invites the other ladies to take a look. They seemed amazed!
Later, Emily and Ben share a nice dinner and take to time to discuss emotions and feelings. Ben shares about his his relationship with Ashley and says, “The time was not right then, but now it is.”
Emily shares that she has been on her own for quite some time and she enjoys the independence, but she is finding it lonely and is ready to share her life with someone. Ben gives her the rose and takes her over to the wall. There are beautiful fireworks and more kissing. The ladies see the fireworks out of their window and of course the comment is, “She got the rose.”
Brittney gets a one on one date card. It says, “Let’s Unlock our Love with this Key.” (After some reading today, I discovered that Ben had Neil Lane design the necklace. It did look lovely.) Immediately, we see that Brittney is not jumping up for joy. She seems perplexed and states that she did not see this coming. She feels confused. She expresses her worry about what will happen if she does not get along with him. She decides that this is too much and she opts to go home. Later, she tells Ben at the group date cocktail party.
Ben states, after he finds out, that he was not sure about her and wanted to use this date to find out if they had anything going. Looks like it was for the best. I am certain her grandmother won’t be thrilled. I think the whole experience is a bit overwhelming for her and she did what was right for her.
The date card arrives for the group date arrives and says, “Let’s Cross Something off Our list.” 11 ladies will share this experience with Ben. Ben picks them up and in several cars they travel to a site where they will be snow skiing in their bikinis.
They all look cute and it soon becomes obvious none of them ski very well but he is proud of them for giving it a shot and just being themselves. We learn that it is 85 degrees. Many people in the neighborhood, are watching with questions and awe!
At the after party, they go to the Tonga Room, which Ben tells them it is very iconic. I did some reading, and the place almost closed last year! It is in the basement of the Fairmont Hotel. The girls liven up and relax a bit more. And, of course they get some alone time with Ben.
Kacie Boguskie : She is honest with Ben and tells him that she has a problem seeing him kissing other girls. Ben gives her a kiss and reminds her how wonderful their date was. He tells her to focus on what they have. She seems much better. As an aside, Ben says, “She gets me, and I get her.” Nice to know!
Blakeley: She tells Ben the girls all hate her. Ben comes back with, “You are not part of the club.” And he suggests that she should try to make some friends.
Rachel: She enjoyed some one on one time and gave him a nice kiss. She opened up to him more and stated that she really likes him. He assures her that the feeling is mutual.
Later, as Ben gets ready to give the group date rose, he tells the ladies, “I want to give the rose to someone who opened up to me.” Rachel gets the rose.
Brittney: She shows up and explains to Ben that she appreciates the opportunity to have a one on one date, but she is confused and just does not feel comfortable here. She tells him she has decided to go home.
Since Birttney left, Ben decides to give a one on one date to Lindzi. Lindzi is thrilled. Ben tells her they are going to see San Francisco at night. They begin by going to Market Street and get some ice cream. And, of course they are riding a trolley. During the date, Lindzi Cox tells him she has not felt like this in a long time. They kiss and Lindzi tells him she does
not normally kiss on a first date. Ben sees her as sexy and funny and as a complete woman.
They enjoy a concert and some private time. Lindzi tells him about one relationship where she was dumped by a text which said, “Welcome to Dumpsville.” They enjoy more quality time and she gets the date rose.
Before the cocktail party, Courtney makes a toast, “To a Drama Free Night.” (Boy are they in for a surprise.)
As if all of this is not enough, Shawntel Newton, calls Chris Harrison. Things are going to heighten even more. You remember her? She is the funeral director from Chino, Calif. She was on the “Bachelor” season Brad Womack and was sent home after the hometown dates. She took Brad on a tour of her mortuary, even getting him to lie on the table on which they do the embalming. He did seem to enjoy himself!!!!!! NOT
She tells Chris she is on her way to San Francisco and will be attending the cocktail party. So why is she coming? She alludes to the fact during the episode, that she and Ben have a connection. During Ashley’s “Bachelorette,” season, she tweeted that she had a crush on Ben. Did the producers see this and decide to invite her?
In my sleuthing today, I learned, that yes, they flirted on twitter, and may have had a phone call. But there were never any face to face dates or meetings. As Shawntel talks to herself, she states, “I am going to make Ben fall in love with me.” (PLEASE!!!)
After meeting Chris, she walks into the room with the other bachelorettes. Claws and fangs, and dangerous looks happen. Of course, no one is happy to have another woman vying for Ben’s heart. Courtney Robertson makes it known that if he gives Shawntel a rose, she is “out of here.”
Jennifer: She takes Ben aside and tells him, “I missed you this week. I really like you and I am not going to be shy about it.”
Ben: “I have a good feeling about you and I think you are the best kisser in the house.” As Jennifer gives him another kiss, we hear him say, “Yep, she’s still got it.”
Back at the ranch LOL, Shawntel tells the ladies that she has strong feelings for Ben.
Courtney Robertson gets some time with Ben and tells him, “We’d make cute babies.” ( I think she has had a bit too much to drink.)
Shawntel Newton talks with Ben and reminds him of their so called connection and if she gets a rose she will be very happy. She leaves it up to him.
Other remarks Courtney has made the evening:
Nicki Sterling : She is very naive and juvenile.
Blakeley: “She’s the kinda girl your boyfriend cheats on you with.”
“Most of the girls, I would never be friends with.”
And now to the rose ceremony. Everyone gets a rose except Jaclyn who ends up sobbing in the bathroom. Erika faints during the ceremony and it has to stop. Later, when he resumes, she does not get a rose, and neither does Shawntel.
Ben offers to walk Shawntel out and tells her he appreciates her coming but it is not fair to the others to give her a rose at this stage of the game.
He returns to his bachelorettes and tells them they will be off to Utah next week.
