Bachelor Season 16, Episode 7 Recap; Beautiful Belize, Sharks, and Spiders!

We are in beautiful Belize and of course I wondered what would happen with Courtney this week. In the beginning Ben tells us he is looking forward to a slower pace, although I can’t say his dates were a slower pace. Anyway, he is hoping to be able to do some thinking and get some clarity regarding his thoughts of the various women still in the game.

Ben the Bachelor: also says, “I have feelings of love but I am not ready to tell anyone yet.”

Nicki Sterling : “The stakes are higher this week.”

Kacie Boguskie: “I am in as love with Ben as I can be.”

Emily Obrien : “I am sleeping with a shark. Courtney likes to sleep a lot. Then she wakes up and attacks.”

Chris arrives and lets the ladies know that there will be 3 one on one dates and one group date. There will be no roses given on the individual dates but there will be one given on the group date.

And of course Courtney Robertson is bent out of shape, letting us know that if she does not get a one on one date, she will not take Ben to meet her family. Really?

Lindzi gets the first one on one date and she is picked up and they are off in a helicopter. They hover over what is called “The Blue Hole,” and Ben informs her they are doing to jump into it.

Lindzi Cox reflects to us: “I’m so happy when I am with Ben. I want kids and forever. I feel this is something special.

Lindzi tells Ben she is afraid of heights, Ben gives her a reassuring kiss, and they jump.

Later Ben Flajnik says, ” Jumping with Lindzi was an incredible feeling. I feel there’s nothing we can’t accomplish together.”

Later, they spend quiet time together and Lindzi says, “I will never forget today, We took a great leap today.”

Later, when Ben asks her if she would like him to meet her parents, Lindzi says, “I absolutely would love to bring you home to my parents. I am falling for you.”

Ben has comer up with a special something they can share together. I feel is it romantic and it really tells me that he is truly feeling something special for Lindzi.

He wants them to write something and send it in a bottle. They decide to have a silly picture on one side and then a serious story on the other. And it begins with, “Once upon a time…” They write a lovely story and Ben writes an eternal promise, that he will always be truthful and honest with this woman.” Hmmmmm. This a great sign of things to come!

Another date card arrives for Emily, saying, “Do you Belize in Love?

Emily is looking forward to spending time with Ben and Ben feels he needs a carefree date with Emily.

Their date is nothing out of the ordinary, except perhaps lobster hunting. They ride bikes, walk barefoot, and eventually eat their lobsters. Emily seems to be enjoying herself and lets him know she is looking forward to taking him home to meet her family.

At the end of the date Ben’s toast is, “To a beautiful women and I enjoy chatting with you.” Really? This does not lead me to believe Emily will be getting a rose! Nothing very romantic here.

Meanwhile, back at the hotel, Courtney is telling Lindzi that she does not feel Ben “has her back”, and even if she gets a one on one date, “It’s a little too late.” I don’t believe that for a minute. Lindzi is playing it smart and keeps her mouth shut. Courtney also says, “Today will be very telling. He needs to step up his game and he knows this.”

Kacie sees Courtney as a black widow spider. And also states that she “sucks the life out of you.”

Courtney gets a date to visit Mayan ruins and they are spectacular. And one of the first things she tells him is, “It was hard to know you were with Emily. She said nasty things about me.” Oh boy, she is planting a seed here and he seems to be going for it.

As they are sitting and enjoying the scenery around them, Courtney tells him she is not sure is she wants him to meet her family. She feels they have lost the spark.

Ben tells us it is difficult to hear Courtney say these things. He would be crushed if she refused him. He tells Courtney that even though they had mostly group dates so far, he always noticed her.

“You stood out. I want someone with a bit of an edge and you are unique.”

They climb to the top of the ruins and Courtney says,

“Each step is like a step in our relationship. With each step, I let the hurt go.”

They also find a tarantula on the date and she ends up putting it on her arm. Interesting, the spider (as mentined by Kacie), likes these things!!!!

Group Date: With Nicki, Rachel Truehart, and Kacie

Ben is looking forward to an amazing day. All three of the ladies seem to get along quite well.

They go shark diving and it turns out Rachel has a fear of sharks. Ben tells her he will be with her each step of the way. This helps and they dive into the water together. Now, these are large sharks but I think they are sand sharks, which are usually quite harmless. Of course no one bothers to tell the ladies.

Later, they each get some quality time with Ben and Kacie tells him she is falling in love with him. The only rose up for grabs this episode, is the group date one and Kacie gets the rose.

All three of the ladies tell Ben they have some concerns with Courtney.

Before the rose ceremony, Chris comes in and tells them Ben knows what he wants to do and does not feel he needs to spend anymore time with them. When Ben shows up, he asks to speak to Courtney and Emily says to us,

“Good Bye Courtney, my condolences to the future men you date.”

Ben says to Courtney, “I know it has been difficult for you. I just want to make sure you are here for the right reasons.”

Courtney: She tells him she has tried to make friend with the other girls and even has given them complements but it is exhausting being with them. They are not the type of women she would be friends with in a normal situation.

She has snowed him once and again and the ladies not getting roses are Emily and Rachel.

As she leaves Emily says, “I wish I could take back the whole thing with Courtney. I hope there is time for Ben to see who she really is.”

I feel sad for Emily, but she did shoot herself in the foot.
