On the tenth leg of The Amazing Race teams remained in Cochin India. Upon departure teams located a temple, removed their shoes, and received a greeting from a priest to obtain their next clue. While other teams had already begun this leg of the race, Bopper and Mark waited for their departure time as Mark suffered from heat stroke due to the final challenge during the ninth leg. After visiting the temple, teams moved on to Pattanacaud Coir Mats and Matting for clues to the Fast Forward and Road Block.
Rachel and Dave completed a Fast Forward in a previous leg so they were unable to complete this task even though they were the first to arrive at the clue. Rachel and Brendon received an opportunity for the Fast Forward but did not complete it because it involved both team members shaving their heads. Rachel refused to shave her head because she “paid $500 for extensions”. She also explained that people already make fun of her nose, the last thing she needs is an ugly nose and no hair. Rachel claimed “I need hair to be pretty”. At the Road Block one team member used the husks of coconuts to spin 40 feet of rope and then spool four large bundles of the rope onto spindles. Rachel and Dave had a moment of confrontation while she cheered him on during the challenge and he yelled “I don’t need positive reinforcement, I appreciate silence”.
On the way to receive the next clue at Fort Kochi, Vanessa fell and hurt her ankle. Despite a very dramatic moment on the pavement she was able to get up and continue the race. For the Detour teams chose between “Pachyderm” where they had to decorate an elephant and then transport 15 wheelbarrows of elephant manure, or “Pack a Box” where they had to pack 10 boxes with dry ginger, decorate the boxes for shipping, and then deliver the ginger to a depot. Art and JJ were the only duo to select “Pack a Box” and they quickly learned that the challenge was difficult and time consuming. To pass the time they mocked Rachel and Dave. The team suffered even more when JJ cut his finger on the sheet metal that lined the packing boxes.
Bopper and Mark departed much later than all of the other teams and they completed a Speed Bump before moving on to the other clues. During the Speed Bump they painted a tiger on the belly of a dancer. When Bopper and Mark saw the clue for the Fast Forward they decided to take a chance in hopes that no other teams had completed the challenge. The pair shaved their heads willingly, hoping that the Fast Forward would keep them in the race.
Teams took a ferry to the Cheena Vala Fishing Nets where they found the Pit Stop for the tenth leg of the race. Rachel and Dave arrived in first place once again, earning $10,000 each for their sixth win this season. Brendon and Rachel arrived in second with Ralph and Vanessa right behind them in third. The two pairs argued on the mat about possible cheating during challenges but eventually decided to put the cattiness behind them. Art and JJ earned the fourth place spot that would allow them to compete in the finale. Bopper and Mark arrived in last place despite completing the Fast Forward and skipping all other challenges. The Kentucky boys simply departed too far behind the other teams and had no chance to catch up.
